LFA Team Of
The Month
Though many keen observers of Liberian football
have described the Liberia Football Association (LFA) national
league as the worst in the sub region arguing that the sponsor-less
league lacks the glamour, enthusiasm and attraction associated with
contemporary football, it does not in any way mean players
showcasing their talents in it are not fantastic.
www.liberiansoccer.com Reporter Roland M. Mulbah brings yet
another LFA premiership team of the month after a though selection
process.
Goalkeeper- Saylee Swen LPRC Oilers
No one ardently covering the LFA 2009
premiership will argue why this towering goaltender retained his
post as the LFA premiership best goalkeeper.
His great save, superb penalty saving ability
and worth of experiences are some reasons LPRC Oilers has gone 15
games unbeaten in the current LFA premiership chase.
Right Back- Arthur Jerry Mighty Barrolle
This attack oriented defender has been on top
of his game since joining Mighty Barrolle from Roots FC in 2008 and
keen observers believe he is one of the best in the country at right
back.
His wizard crosses and great ball control are
reasons the kanyan pepper' boys are major contender for the LFA
premiership crown.
Left
Back- Gizzie Tucan Dorbor (Captain) LISCR FC
This resourceful left wing back who made his
international debut against the Eagles of Mali in the 2006 Nations
Cup qualifiers is the Captain of club LISCR FC and a mainstay in his
side back four.
His lithe marking and diagonal crosses are his
forte.
The former Karn United integral member is often
a difficult opponent to get by as his intelligence and technique
prove it all.
Though his team is far from getting on top of
the 18 teams’ LFA premier log, the offensive left back is the joy of
LISCF FC and maintained his post as Captain of the LFA premiership
best 11 after showing leadership ability.
Central Backs
Bill Janjay Paytoe LPRC Oilers
Given his skills on the ball and terrific ball
control, many considered this pin sized central defender as the Rio
Ferdinand of Liberian football and the lad has showed class since
returning from Ghana to join the Gabriel Johns’ guided side.
Bill is indeed a delight in the oil boys’ quest
for the championship chase.
Hallie Lahai Mighty Barrolle
Considered a man marking defender, Lahai has
been great for Mighty Barrolle and he is on record as one of the
defenders who played all the games so far in the current campaign
including off-season matches for the rollers.
He is the light wire of the Rollers’ defense.
Midfield Quartet
Robert Teah- LPRC Oilers
The towering versatile play marker has used his
vast experience in making the oil boys the favorite for the LFA
premiership.
His placid or calm marking and distribution
make this local stage veteran a player who still has plenty to offer
as far as football is concerned in this part of the world.
Archie Harvey (Wright Philips) Mighty
Barrolle
Might Barolle may well be a contender for the
LFA premiership crown and there are few lads who are considered key
factors in the red and white outfit’s mission to clinch the title.
Danger winger Archie Harvey, alias Wright
Philips is arguable one of the best wingers in the country and the
speedy winger has produced a master card in the current chase
evidence by gaining a space in the current national U-20.
Momo Sonpon-BYC
Another reason BYC is considered the dark
horses in the current chase.
The lad is a major passer of the round leather
and has used his ability so far for the Seku Kenneh boys.
Andrew Foday Swaray BYC
The attacking ace is one of the reasons Barrack
Young Controllers (BYC) is a formidable force in the ongoing title
chase. His verve, precision and jinks in attack are qualities that
catch the eyes. His unending tackles and runs as well as his whole
hearted approach make him a class asset on the local stage and the
second top goal scorer in the LFA premiership.
Front Two
Mohammed Varney
The top goal scorer in the ongoing campaign,
the predator in the box has no doubt set the league on fire.
With 10 goals so far, the pacey hit-man is
making life uneasy for opposing defenders and goalkeepers. The kid,
who returned from Ghana after a short period in that part of the
world, is making the Unification Town Sports Pitch a difficult
ground for opposing teams with his goal scoring tactics.
Alex White Whittmore- LPRC Oilers
A very deadly striker of Gabriel Johns’ LPRC
Oilers, who combines speed with skills, Alex is indeed a kid to
watch after scoring four goals in less than ten games. He is a
terror in the final third, and is a delight to watch on a day. The
youngster has the carriage of a modern day striker, as his mazy
runs, depth touches and subtle moves prove a handful to the
opponents. Not the biggest of strikers though, but he can finesse
and bewilder giant sized defenders in rattling the net to their
disbelief.
He is another reason the oil boys are still
unbeaten in 15 LFA premiership matches.
Coach of the Month
Gabriel Johns- LPRC Oilers
The national U-20 deputy coach has guided
sensational LPRC oilers to 15 matches so far in the current chase
with no win so far.
He retained his post as the coach of the month
after maintaining clean sheet in the 18 teams’ LFA premier log.
Referee of the Month- Jerry Yekeh
The FIFA newly confirmed badged referee is indeed the delight on the
park with handling the world popular sport in this part of the
world.
