LFA
Sets New Kickoff Date

The Liberia Football Association has rescheduled the kickoff
date for the national football league to 24 January after
previous delays.
According to acting Secretary General Yanqueh Boarsay,
fixture for this season is being categorized in a two-phase
championship race for all divisions. Liberians were
constrained to honor a one-phase league last season because
of the improper fixture from the LFA.
Since the current LFA President Musa Bility was elected on
March 20, 2010, there has been no major transformation in
Liberian football, according to some club presidents.
Although Bility landed a deal with Cellcom GSM Company,
which is running for three seasons, many football teams are
yet to understand where the sponsorship money is going.
A huge percentage of the national league last season was
played without Medics, among other constraints. The Lone
Star head coach Roberto Landi also linked his departure from
Liberia to the absence of a national league.
"There is nothing happening from the FA; no long-term
training program and no league to keep me in the country",
Landi lamented late last year.
