LFA Releases Elections Guidelines
-Speculations Are Over!

The long awaited speculations on the elections of the Liberia Football Association have ended after the local football house released guidelines for the association’s elections slated for March 20, 2010.

The guidelines were released on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the headquarters of the LFA.

Though there are bickering, tension, division and a host of other unwanted issues impeding the growth of the game here, but the holding of elections as mandated by congress, the highest decision making body will certainly serve as a recipe in expunging these numerous problems.

At the polls, the incumbent president Izetta Wesley and her two vice presidents, who are as well incumbent, Pennoh Bestman and Adolph Lawrence will go under scrutiny by the voters.

Guidelines for election of the Liberia Football Association:

The LFA will at the its 15th Ordinary Congress elect the President, Vice Presidents and Executive Committee members for a period of four (4) years. In view of the above, the LFA Secretariat is pleased to release the below elections guidelines.

Registration opens on February 9, 2010 and closes on February 22, 2010.

GUIDELINES:

Only Members of the Association may propose candidate for the office of the President (Article XXXIII, Section 33.2 of LFA revised statute).

Every candidate in the election of Vice Presidents and Executive Committee members must be proposed by at least one member (Art. XXXIII, Section 33.3 of the LFA revised statute).

 Proposed candidates shall not be older than 60 years and younger than 25 years, and shall have already been active in football (Art. XXXIII, Section 33.3 of the LFA revised statute).

 Proposed candidates must have been an official of a club, from Secretary to President (Art. VI, Section 6.9 of the LFA 2007 statute, and Art. VI, Section 6.10 of the revised statute).

 Proposed candidates must be Liberian citizens and have good moral conduct (Art. VI, Section 6.9 of the LFA 2007 statute, and Art. VI, Section 6.10 of the revised statute).

 Proposed candidates must present to the LFA Secretariat, a resume and one recent passport size photo.

 Proposed candidates must not have been adjudged guilty of the commission of a criminal offense by a competent court of jurisdiction, or removed from his/her football organization for serious breach of duties (Art. XXXIII, section 33.3 of the LFA revised statute).

 Meanwhile, the listing of qualified candidates shall be circulated to member associations before being published on February 25, 2010.
