Keita Still With Lone Star

After it was revealed to this website by a family source
that French based Liberia international midfielder Alseny
Keita quitted the senior national team the Lone Star due to
abandonment by authorities of the Liberia Football
Association (LFA) the player has broken silence.
In a telephone interview from his base in France, Keita told
Liberiansoccer.com that he intended quitting the national
team, but concerns from Lone Star head Coach Kaetue Smith,
Deputy Coach Kelvin Sebwe, Team Manager Sebastian Collins
and LFA Vice President for Administration Mr. Musa Shannon
had him reconsidered his decision.
The master card performer as far as the current Lone Star is
concerned said he received calls from the above mentioned
personalities when he was hospitalized for over two weeks
due to numerous sicknesses.
The player got very sick and was hospitalized in France for
20 days shortly he returned to his base after playing for
the red, white and blue outfit against Senegal and Angola
for the 2014 world cup qualifier as well as helping the Lone
Star book a place in the final round of the 2013 nations cup
qualifier against Namibia.
Keita said his heart is with the National team and hopes to
play an integral part as the Lone Star gears to make its
third appearance as far as playing Africa cup of nations is
concerned.
“We are very closed to the 2013 nations cup in South Africa
and I want to help Liberia achieve such feat. I had some
problems, but constant calls and concerns from Lone Star
head Coach Kaetue Smith, Deputy Coach Kelvin Sebwe, Team
Manager Sebastian Collins and LFA Vice President for
Administration Mr. Musa Shannon had me reconsidered my
decision.
“Let me tell the Liberian people that I am still with the
national team and no turning back. I can assure them that we
will fight and achieve our goal by beating Nigeria a qualify
for the 2013 nations cup in South Africa,” Keita who has
shifted to a new club in a lucrative deal in France noted.
