IE,
LISCR bow out of LFA Knockout

The LFA knockout competition continued yesterday with two of
Liberia’s biggest clubs bowing out of the competition at the
ATS in Monrovia.
Defending knockout champion IE were beaten by a goal to nil
at the hands of NPA. The port boys got the winner midway in
the first half, the yellow boys fight in vain to level the
score line.
In the second encounter, the country’s two best teams
(arguably), defending champions LISCR FC and BYC, played
full time without a goal. However, post match penalty
shootout saw BYC go through to the next round of the
competition on a 5-4 score line.
The match was one of the best seen at the ATS in many years.
However, LISCR took much of the possession and chances on
goal.
The competition continues today with Nimba United taking on
BYC II, and 3rd division side Junior Gardnersville meets 1st
division side Gardnersville FC at the ATS.
On Sunday April 22, M.B. Engel second division side Sime
Darby in Unification Town. At the same venue, Mighty
Electron takes on LPRC oilers in the second match.
At the ATS on Sunday, NPA takes on BYC in the first match,
while Watanga meets M.C. Breweries.
The winners of the above matches will advance to the quarter
final stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, round 10 of the National Cellcom league resumes
Monday April 23 at the ATS and other venues across the
country. |
