Defense For Two LFA Officials

Mr. Ebenezer Barclay

By Julu M.Johnson, Jr.

The President of Second Division club Diamond FC has rejected a campaign led by Alieu Bah of Fulani to remove two Executive Committee Members of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Beauford O. Weeks and Ben Fredericks.

"For the past weeks, Mr. Bah has decided to light a torch of confusion. He has decided to use our brothers who find themselves in a wilderness to be endorsed by Congress.

"Let me remind them that they are not yet admitted as Second Division clubs but only candidates. They can be rejected based on the LFA Rules and Regulations," Mr. Ebenezer Barclay spoke on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from his base in Rivercess County.

He accused Mr. Bah of wanting to join the Executive Committee being accused of being corrupt. "Is it because he (Bah) wants to become an Executive Committee Member, reason for which he is accusing the Executive Committee of being corrupt? He did not accuse an individual but rather the entire body," Barclay declared.

The Diamond FC President then admonished the Executive Committee of the LFA not to take lightly the accusations being made against it.

Mr. Barclay added that tough actions should be taken against Mr. Bah and the entire Fulani team if allegations by the latter are not proven. "This is because he spoke as President of Fulani and not as an individual," Barclay noted.

Mr. Barclay stated that punishment for Mr. Bah and his club would serve as a deterent for those who accuse people without proof.

"I want the newly promoted teams not to follow those whose intentions are not to promote the game but to cause confusion. They have failed and now looking for others to cause confusion. I am not in support of either side but rather the statutes."
