Liberia international Francis Doe has signed for United States
Major League Soccer (MLS) club DC United. The side acquired the
22-year-old striker's rights after the New York Red Bulls released
him in February. According to DC United website, the compact,
muscular frontrunner is waiting on visa paperwork to be finalized
and doesn't expect to be available for Saturday's match against
Real Salt Lake.
Francis Doe will likely make the trip to Colorado
next week. Doe said on Tuesday DC United is a good club and was
happy to join. He assured he would help the team in goal scoring
too stating it's a challenge in getting on the field. The Liberian
striker promised to work hard in order to make the club starting
11.
DC United general manager Dave Kasper said they are excited
about the prospects for Francis, as he is a dynamic young player.
Doe joined the New York Red Bulls last August, and finished the
season with two goals and one assist, as the club qualified for
the MLS playoffs. He previously had a two-year spell with Greek
club Atromitos, scoring six goals in his first season at the club.
