Clubs Scramble over Omega

By

Due to his virtuoso form this season two of Serbia’s leading
clubs, Partizan and Crvena Zvezda are in a scramble for
‘Liberia’s Rio Ferdinand’, Omega Alamadine Roberts.
The 22 year old who is in red hot vein of form with top
flight club FK Sloboda has caught the eyes of the country’s
two accomplished clubs that have the rich credentials of
participating in Europe’s elite club competitions like the
UEFA champions league and the EUROPA.
Further reports have it that the player’s contract with his
current club expires during the summer with Sloboda keen to
sign a new deal with him, but his representatives are very
much unhappy with the terms and conditions of the proposed
new signing saying “they want to get him on a cheap which we
are not willing to do”.
According to the management that owns the player, the club
intends signing a new deal with him and then sells him to
one of the top clubs that are in the hunt to lure him over.
They maintain that if the deal cannot go through and there are no means of
discussing with Partisan and the others they will have no
alternative but to move the intelligent rearguard in another
European country as they say “we have offers from other
countries in Europe”.
With three matches to the end of the season, Omega’s club
are sixth in the Super Liga . the player who have had stints
in the Ivory Coast, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon and Mali
before moving to Serbia has taken the league by storm in the
Eastern European country as his club’s coach Ljubija
Stamenkovic describes him as “Mr. Efficient”. With one
international cap against the Amavubis of Rwanda in a 2008
African Nations Cup qualifier, the towering center back has
taken his game to another level and is indeed one of the
best foreign players in that part of the world.
