The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set 5th July
as the date for the 2013 Afcon qualifiers final draw. The
draw that pits 30 teams against each other in a battle for
15 slots at South Africa 2013 final tournament will see the
top 15 ranked sides according to the past three Nations cup
tournament drawn against the other 15 sides.
According to Malawi world cup blog.com, it is assumed that the top team in
pot 1 will play against team 30 in pot 2 and second team in
pot 1 play team 29 in pot 2 and so on.

If that is the case, Liberia's likely opponents should come
from the top five teams in Pot 1 that include Zambia, Ghana,
Cote de'voire, Egypt and Mali. In case Egypt fails to beat
Central African Republic, then Tunisia will join the top
five. Uganda is currently ranked in the bottom five in pot
2.
Mean while, CAF has set 30th June as the date for the return
leg match between CAR and Egypt. The Pharaohs shockingly
lost the first leg 2-3 in Alexandria and will have to win
the second leg in Bangui by at least 2-0 to advance.
In a related development, the draws for the final tournament
will be held on 26th October in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The final tournament is slated to kick off on 19th January
and end on 10th February. |
