Black Star wins Presidents Cup

Black Star FC has won the 2008 Presidents Cup Competition. Premiership club Black Star did so after whipping Mighty Barrolle 4 goals to 1.

James Zotiah opened the goal flood for Black Star in the 24th minute. Bill Sheriff collected the second goal for Black Star in the 25th minute just a minute after the 1st goal was scored.

Sheriff completed his brace in the 42nd minute while teammate Civicus Barsigiah found the 4th goal for Black Star in the 53rd minute.

Ticonbleh Doe scored the consolation goal for Mighty Barrolle in the 48th minute. Black Star walked away with three thousand United States Dollars.

Goal difference gave Black Star the glory over LPRC Oilers who also had three goals. Oilers beat Barolle 3-0 but failed to score against Black Star.

That match ended in a scoreless draw. 2nd and 3rd place winners LPRC Oilers and Mighty Barolle also walked away with cash prizes.

Oilers pocketed two thousand US Dollars while Barrolle walked away with one thousand dollars.

Earth Angels won the female version of the competition after a 1-0 victory over Blanco FC.

Earth Angels received a cash prize of two thousand United States Dollars while Blanco received one thousand dollars.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf attended the closing program.

Madam Sirleaf promised that the next edition of the competition would be fully supported.
The Chief Executive commended the winning teams for their achievements and urged the losers to play hard during the next competition.
