The owner of St. Anthony FC, Mr. Adolph Lawrence, who is currently in the United States of America, has rejected the recent merger of St. Anthony FC and Pennoh Bestman's Monrovia Black Star.

In a telephone conversation with this website over the weekend, Mr. Lawrence said the decision by Mr. Jenkins Pelenah to merge his team with Monrovia Black Star was not discussed with him and is therefore calling on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to nullify the agreement between the two teams.

He said as owner of the team, Mr. Pelenah failed to discuss with him details of the merger, but only to find out that his team (St. Anthony FC) was sold to Mr. Pennoh Bestman for L$35,000 by Pelenah without any reference to him.

"I invested so much money in St. Anthony FC for Jenkins to sell my team to Pennoh Bestman without discussing the matter with me. As far as I am concerned, St. Anthony FC is still St. Anthony FC and not the so-called Liberia or Monrovia Black Star as they call the new team," Mr. Lawrence pointed out.

Quizzed what he intends doing to stop the merger from holding, Mr. Lawrence said the necessary documentations have been put together and will be forwarded to the LFA for the nullification of "so-called merger".

He also called on Mr. Bestman to cancel whatever agreement he signed with Mr. Pelenah because St.Anthony FC will not merge or be sold to him.

Following the end of last season, St. Anthony FC failed to gain promotion in the new premier league, while Monrovia Black Star was relegated to division two.

Another sponsor of St. Anthony FC, who preferred anonymity for now frowned the decision by Mr. Pelenah to sell the team to Mr. Bestman without discussing the matter with them.

"Why has Pelenah decided to throw our investment away just like that. Does he know how much we have spent on the St. Anthony FC? He did not treat us well, so I think we will stand behind Adolph and call on the LFA nullify the merger," the Sponsor said.

Our reporter could not contact Mr. Pelenah through a telephone due it being switched off. When he proceeded to the ATS yesterday, Mr. Pelenah could not also be found. We hope to make contact today for comments on the matter.

Sources from the LFA say it is very late for the merger to be nullify since the documents have already been signed by all the parties concerned.
