There will be a major football and kickball tournament among
supporters of Unity Party in Monrovia.
According to the organizers, who are the Peace Promoters of Unity
Party, the one-day affair will take place at the Antoinette Tubman
Stadium (ATS) on Friday, January 13, 2005.
The tournament will feature four auxiliary groups of the party. They
are LIFE, LIVE, Crusaders and WIFE. They will face each other on a
knockout basis and the festival will involve men and women, aged 35
years and above.
The male or football trophy is named in honor of Clemenceau B. Urey
but would be played in honor of Vice President-elect Joseph N. Boakai,
while the female or kickball trophy is named in honor of Madam
Clavenda Parker but would be staged in honor of the President-elect
Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
The organizers stated that both Mr. Urey and Madam Parker are two
distinct partisans of UP who have worked assiduously for the success
of the party.
The Secretary-General of the Peace Promoters and Co-Chairman for
Mobilization of the Montserrado County branch of the party, V. Murvee
Gray confirmed that the former soccer stars James Salinsa Debbah,
Jonathan Boye Charles Sogbie and Dionysius Sebwe would compete in the
tournament for the auxiliaries. |
