Union of Clubs
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
Monrovia May 19, 2004-
Mr. Pennoh W. Bestman has taken over as president of the Union of
clubs. The union comprises teams in the premier, first and second
divisions.
The Black Star president was elected without an opponent.
After his election, Mr. Bestman described his victory as a success
for all football lovers. "The move will take us forward," Bestman
said.
At a meeting of heads of clubs on Saturday at the First Assembly of
God High School on Buchanan Street, Mr. Bestman was elected
alongside Andy Quamie (Watanga), Vice President of Administration,
Rodney Wilson (Roots), Vice President of Operations, and Henry
Yonton (Cardinals), Secretary General.
The rest of the clubs officials elected are Henrietta Jeh
(World Girls), Assistant Secretary General, Ben Fredricks (Roza),
Treasurer, John Ballah (Millennium), Financial Secretary, and Freddy
Sorbor (Shoes FC), Chaplain.
As the clubs intensify their campaign to restore glory to
Liberian soccer, the clubs decided to put in a genuine leadership,
through which their grievances would be addressed.
