Liberia might be
sniveling on the international scene, but a few quality talents of
its foreign exploits are becoming even with the task and saddle
associated with professional football.
There are several
stories of Liberian players around the world, and with most of
them struggling to find their football even in the easiest leagues
around the world, some are unflinchingly measuring physique and
dexterity with experience players on the highly tough edges.
Ben Teekloh,
whose made his senior national debut four years when Lone Star ran
football riots on the African continent, has been voted the Best
Foreign Player in the Omani Professional Football League.
The 21 year-old
who plays as a defender and midfielder, showed exceptional flair
and immense football aptitude with Al Nasr, and despite the
overflow of Moroccans and other foreign elites, Ben
shined undoubtedly the brightest as
Oman Best Foreign Player – 2004/2005.
The former
Ashanti Gold Soccer Club of Ghana midfielder who received the
award recently confided in
LiberianSoccer
that he was
overjoyed by the honor, and didn’t expect it playing in his first
season.
“The award comes
as a great surprise, but again it shows how grateful the people
here are concerning the game. I am delighted, and will have to
live up to the challenge in the coming season”, he told
LiberianSoccer.
Ben, who featured
in all of Liberia’s 2006 World Cup Qualifiers matches except the
last two fixtures against Senegal and Mali, is no outsider to
quality international football.
Three year ago,
the easy-going and discipline cum-midfielder helped Tonnerre KC of
Cameroon to the CAF Cup Winners Cup final, which they eventually
lost to Algeria’s JS Kabylie and received other accolades in the
Cameroonian League.
