In LFA League:
Poor Lighting Robs Bassa Defs Vital Points

The match between impressive Bassa Defenders and NPA Anchors was called off Wednesday due to poor lighting at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. Both teams are struggling to make the Big Eight.

The match was cancelled in the dying minutes of the second half as Bassa Defenders (playing in white) led Anchors (green) 2-1.

Center referee Stanley Konnah, along with linesmen Sam Kortie and Alphonso Nyanti decided to cancel the match after the generator went out of fuel about six minutes to game’s end.

Timothy David scored both of Bassa Defender’s goals. The first goal came from an indirect kick midway in the first half when Timothy fired a cracker into the far right corner of Anchor’s post.

Emmanuel Lackey scored NPA Anchors’ lone goal.

Div. Two
Earlier, Roots FC downed Cardinals 3-1 in a Division Two encounter. Roots’ goals were scored by Isaac Soma, Bennie Tisdell and Eric Lewis.

In the first game of the day, SOS Trotters and St. Joseph Warriors drew nil-nil.

The league continues Thursday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium with LISCR FC going against St. Anthony in Division One.

LTC Satellite and Ducor Defenders are expected to sort things out, while Karn United and Small Town FC will clash later.
