Bangalu Quits IE Amidst Crisis

                New Chairman Nyenabo

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

The Vice President for Administration of the Invincible Eleven (IE) Majestic Sports Association, Honorable Jerron Cole Bangalu has left the club.

Hon. Bangalu said his departure was prompted by an uncomfortable relationship he now has with the IE President Isaac Nyenabo.

The now former IE Vice President noted that he could not continue because Mr. Nyenabo has decided to give credence the club's Team Manager Prince Jallabah.

Mr. Bangalu, also a senior official in government, suspended Jallabah for describing the former as inefficient in submitting financial reports following last year's IE Ball.

When Jallabah defied the suspension imposed by Bangalu, club president Nyenabo backed the IE Team Manager. Nyenabo said on a local radio station that Bangalu was not clothed with the authority to suspend the Team Manager.

Therefore, Bangalu called it quit since he seemingly does not enjoy the confidence of the President anymore.

"I was taken aback by Mr. Nyenabo's statement. He needed to be serious than the statement he made," Bangalu stated.

He added, "It makes me feel he contributed to the Team Manager's insults against me."

Among other things, Bangalu registered his displeasure over alleged attempts by the IE president to dissolve the club's Board of Directors. Bangalu said Nyenabo does not the wherewithal to dissolve the Board because it is the same body that appoints the IE president and other officials.

The recent decision by the IE president to reject Bangalu as Vice President sparked contradiction in that the latter and the rest of the current executives were inducted into office during the IE Acquaintance Ball.

Bangalu, meanwhile, expressed joy that his resignation from the IE leadership would afford him the opportunity of running his second division club Devereux. Hon. Bangalu, as president, said concentrating on Devereux could lead the club to the first division next season.

Mr. Bangalu lauded the IE President and those that asked him to serve on the club's executive committee briefly.

Nevertheless, Mr. Bangalu vowed to remain as head of committee to pursue funds pledged at the IE Ball last year and subsequently make financial reports.
