Bahlodi/Liberia CEO Hails Lone Star’s
Victory
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bahlodi/Africa/Liberia has
congratulated the national football team of Liberia, for the victory
it achieved on Sunday against the Amavubi Stars of Rwanda.
Bahlodi, with the headquarters in South Africa, is the current
sponsor of the Liberia National Team.
Mr. Steve B. Davis was not present to watch the 2008 African Cup of
Nations qualifying match between his country and Rwanda due to
official engagements abroad.
However, upon hearing the news that Francis Grand Pa Forkay Doe,
Oliver Makor and Dioh Williams had given the national team the
needed victory by scoring a goal each, Mr. Davis said he was
grateful to the President of Liberia, Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for
not only supporting the team financially but also attending the
match.
Speaking from South Africa via cellular phone on Monday, the Bahlodi
CEO stated that the presence of President Sirleaf at the Antoinette
Tubman Stadium (ATS) to watch the match was an indication that she
is interested in seeing to it that sports get developed in the
country.
Also the International Coordinator for Youth and Sports in Liberia,
Mr. Davis lauded the foreign-based players, led by skipper Kelvin
Sebwe, for accepting the invitation to play for the national team.
He believes that it was because of the patriotism shown by the
country’s overseas players that produced the result.
Mr. Davis asked the local players on the national team to do more by
emulating the example of their professional colleagues so as to
improve their talents.
The Bahlodi CEO then extolled the national team’s technical staff
for responding to the pleas of the citizens by inviting
foreign-based players for the match.
He argued that if more foreign-based players are called all of the
time for the national team, then positive things would continue to
occur for the Lone Star.
Mr. Davis has vowed to still be supportive to the activities of the
national team in all its endeavors.
He expressed regrets about not being present to add impetus to the
Lone Star’s quest for victory against Rwanda, but promised that he
would be available for subsequent matches.
His company Bahlodi has been supplying the Lone Star with football
materials as part of a US$250,000.00 agreement with the Liberia
Football Association (LFA).
