July, 22-Since the retirement of George Weah
and James Debbah, Liberia has been missing from the
international professional scene, but thanks to a couple of
young talents, professional dreams may once again be on the
bright side for Liberia.
Sky Sports News is reporting that English
premiere league sides Southampton and Arsenal have been
watching Liberian duo Jimmy Dixon and Dioh Williams.
According to the reports Southampton have
joined the race for African duo Jimmy Dixon and Dioh Williams.
The Liberian internationals play for Swedish side BK Hacken
and are hot property in Europe.
The
duo have attracted interest from France and Holland, while
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been looking at defender Dixon.
Saints boss Harry Redknapp has now spied the pair, who
would cost at least £1 million.
Hacken Sporting director Carl Fhager admitted that a number
of sides were monitoring Dixon and Williams.
"We know that several clubs have some of our players under
observation," Fhager told Sportbladet.
"But we haven't got any serious enquiries. If something
happens, we will consider it then."
The only other Liberian name making any kind of headlines
right now is Collins John of English premiere league outfits
Fulham FC, but John has already pledged his loyalty to
Holland, already winning a couple of caps at the senior level
and is a regular on the under 21 side.
