Angola Here to Win

After their hate-to-remember 1-1 draw at home to the Cranes
of Uganda, the Palancas Negras of Angola are here to win
against the group's bottom side Liberia. According to the
Angolan FA website, they have had good news from their
scouts who watched the Lone Star been beaten by Senegal 3-1
in Dakar last weekend and know the areas on the Lone Star to
exploit in get the maximum three points.
Under care taker coach Romeu FIlemon, the Angolans believe
the ATS battle is a perfect way to get back in contention in
beating the Lone Star that are coached by the under pressure
Kaetu Smith. Prior to their trip to Monrovia, Coach Filemon
told journalists "We should have won against Uganda, but we
went to sleep in the final minutes as we thought all was
over which made them equalized, but there is still a long
way and we are hoping to perform better against Liberia
away".
According to the Angolan FA, the Coach is just holding on as
he will soon be replaced by a Brazilian or someone from the
former Yugoslavia. This is something the care taker coach
will be hoping against as he will want a permanent stay and
quit his job in the local league as he aims to focus on
international football.
The Angolans are noted for playing effective functional
football where they are very ominous on the wings with the
quick Djalma and Raafael providing the ammunition cum
cleverly measured crosses for the towering Manucho who
Manchester United manager Alex Fergusson once described as
"tall, agile and a quick forward".
After their disappointing outing in the Equatorial Guinea,
Gabon 22012 AFCON, Filemon has effected a host of changes
with the experienced Flavio, Gilberto and Makanga all out.
And, with Gebro and Jimmy both on the wrong side of 30, and
seemingly lack the consistent power and fighting spirit to
keep rampaging forwards at bay coupled with their lack of
speed, the Angolans threat in the final third must be of
serious concern from a Lone Star perspective. |
