Amoah Knocking
On Lone Star Door

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The former LPRC Oilers defender Joseph Amoah can't wait to
see the day he would be recalled to the Liberian national team, Lone
Star.
The Indonesian-based defender has stated his intention of
rejoining the team, which is currently on the journey to reach the
finals of the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt and the World Cup
in Germany.
He has appealed to the Lone Star technical staff,
headed by Kadallah Kromah, to have him included on the team, as
there are many matches on hand for the team.
Amoah assured that when given the chance, he would put his
critics to shame by performing duty remarkably.
The player insists that he wants to form part of those
that are striving to see the national team reach the World Cup
finals for the first time and the African Nations Cup for the third
time in Liberia's history.
At the same time, the player has congratulated
the Lone Star for pulling a 1-0 win over the Eagles of Mali on June
6, 2004 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. He
described the victory as good start.
Amoah currently plays in the premier league of
Indonesia that is known as the Liga Bank Mandira. Amoah's club,
Persikota, is a city rival to Persita Tangerang, which has his
compatriots, Fallah Johnson and Anthony Ballah.
Amoah, who also played for Junior Professionals in
Monrovia, presently plays as a defensive midfielder, but at times,
features as a wing-back.
He joined the club from division one side Black Pearl
Nong Chock FC in Thailand where he played alongside Moses Nyewan
alias Carlos Mozer and Henry Baysah.
So far, Amoah has scored one goal and gave four assists
for Persikota this season.
He made his Lone Star debut against the Carthage Lions
of Tunisia at the El-Menzah Stadium during the 2000 African Cup of
Nations qualifiers. |
