2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. Sandi Gbandi

In the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. Sandi Gbandi, brother of FCD's Chris Gbandi, was selected in the first round of the SuperDraft. FCD took it's last draft pick of the year in the final round by selecting SMU's left midfielder Chase Wileman. The MLS Supplemental Draft consists of four rounds and usually takes place one week after the SuperDraft. Former Blazer Sandy Gbandi became the sixth UAB player to be drafted by Major League Soccer, and the fifth alum to be drafted by the MLS since 2004.

With the 9th pick in the Supplemental Draft, FC Dallas picked up University of Alabama-Birmingham midfielder, brother of Chris Gbandi, and frequent FCD training invitee, Sandi Gbandi. The younger Gbandi lost his eligibility in 2006, his red shirt senior year, but was previously a UAB MVP and Conference USA first teamer. Similar in size and build to his brother, Sandi is a midfielder with more attacking flare than Chris. As an underclassman, Sandi frequently trained with FCD and was able to keep up with the mental speed of the professional players.
